Root Canals

Removing the Pain

Root canals have received notoriety as being painful, but in truth, this procedure is what stops the pain and can save a tooth.

Having a root canal done on a tooth saves it, and prevents removal.  Many patients believe that removing a tooth, which is causing pain, is a good solution. What they don’t realize is that extracting a tooth  is more costly and causes significant problems for adjacent teeth.

WHY DO YOU NEED IT:

Root canal therapy is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection. In order to save the tooth, all the living tissue inside the tooth, including pulp and nerves, is removed and the resulting space is filled with special medicated dental materials. A crown is then placed over the top to restore the tooth to its full function.

There is no reason to fear a root canal when you come to Gentle Dental. Our first order of business is to ensure that our patients are at-ease about the procedure.
